About the Amendment
Surf Coast Shire has prepared Amendment C145surf to the Surf Coast Planning Scheme to implement recommendations from the Moriac Structure Plan 2023. The Moriac Structure Plan 2023 provides a strategic framework to guide land use and development decisions over the next 10 years.
Land affected by the Amendment
The amendment applies to land shown in Figure 1 and includes the township of Moriac and the immediate surrounding hinterland.

What the Amendment does
The amendment will implement key actions and strategies to ensure future growth considers landscape constraints and maintains the town’s rural character.
It does this by inserting a new Framework Plan for Moriac in the Municipal Planning Strategy which will provide land use directions and set clear growth expectations for the town by identifying a town settlement boundary. Other proposed changes include updates to local planning policy for Moriac and rezoning of land to correct zoning anomalies and to reflect use of land for an open space reserve.
