The Unsealed Road Network review was adopted at the Council meeting on Tuesday 27 August.
From the review 24 initiatives were identified that could improve service delivery and the condition of unsealed roads across the no cost, low cost, medium cost and high cost options.
Council endorsed the implementation of no cost options to provide immedtiate improvements to the cpndition of usnealed roads.
This consultation is now complete.
Background
In January 2024, Surf Coast Shire conducted a review of its network of unsealed roads to achieve the following objectives:
- Evaluate the road management framework
- Identify and analyse gaps between service provision and community expectation
- Assess the condition and performance of the unsealed road network and maintenance and renewal scheduling and delivery practices.
- Identify strengths, weaknesses and gaps in policy and procedures.
- Propose practical and actionable options and costs to enhance the Council's approach to managing, maintaining, and renewing the unsealed road network.
- Develop decision-making recommendations, guidance and criteria to inform the prioritisation of future works.
