We are working closely with community, place planning for Winchelsea.
This will produce a clear strategic place plan for Winchelsea’s growth, developed for present and future with community aspirations and placemaking in mind, and influence creation of a more detailed structure plan
Winchelsea’s population is projected to grow steadily in coming years, and it is important to start planning now.
The Planning Scheme Review adopted by Council at its June 2024 Council Meeting, recognized this and recommended preparation of a new strategic plan for Winchelsea as a high priority.
Council’s recently-adopted Urban Futures Strategy (UFS) provides useful insights into some of the key drivers of growth, and the principles that will be employed to guide high-level planning as Winchelsea grows.

We are calling for community members to become part of a community working group to guide development of the plan.
Winchelsea is home to a passionate and welcoming community, with many residents who have extensive local knowledge and valuable insights.
Hearing from the community and working with members of the community to develop a place plan for Winchelsea’s future is important to the town’s future livability and success.
We are open to ideas and will be seeking them from members of our community working group.
This group of up to 30 people will help develop a place plan during a series of four workshops from July to September, taking into account past work, technical information and feedback from recent community engagement.
The plan will be shared with community for comment, before being refined and presented to Council for consideration in 2026.
