When rain is intense or lasts for a long time, rivers and creeks can spill over into nearby areas. These floodwaters may remain for days, isolating communities and making access difficult.
This study focuses on the drainage system and stormwater in the residential area.
In township areas, heavy rainfall can overwhelm drainage systems, causing water to overflow onto roads and footpaths. This type of stormwater flooding often happens suddenly, with little warning, and can be an issue in towns.
Coastal flooding can occur when high tides and storm surges drive seawater inland, impacting beaches and nearby communities. With rising sea levels, low-lying coastal areas may experience flooding more often and with greater intensity.
