New Wurdi Baierr Aquatic and Recreation Centre taking shape
The facade is almost complete, all pools are now tiled and painting, cabinetry and other internal works are well underway. The new centre will adjoin and share its entry with the existing Wurdi Baierr Stadium in Torquay.
In Wadawurrung Language Wurdi Baierr (pronounced word-ee by-eer) means ‘big gathering place’.
Stage 1 and 2 works are being completed at the same time, with the centre set to open in early 2027.
